Libraries
The Weston A. Pettey Library, the premier vision library in the Southwest, provides access to over 12,000 volumes, a vast media collection consisting of approximately 328 videos, 64 CD-ROM programs, 238 slide sets relating to optometry, ophthalmology, vision science, psychophysics, optics, vision rehabilitation, neuroscience, ocular pharmacology, psychology, general medicine, pediatrics education and businessrelated materials. Additionally, students have access to over four thousand databases and on-line journals, newspapers, and reference sources as provided by the UH Libraries.
In 1995/96, the library went through an extensive renovation. The library now has 10 group studies, a computer lab consisting of 35 computers, 2 scanners in a Microsoft environment with Internet access, two audiovisual rooms, a large conference room, an expanded photocopy facility, and a current journals reading room. The library now has wireless capabilities for laptop use.
