A certificate signifies to current and future employers that an individual has attained a level of competency in a particular area of study. The Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program currently offers an interdisciplinary graduate certificate in women’s studies and the African American Studies Program offers a graduate certificate in African American studies. The Department of English offers two departmental certificates, one in translation studies and one in empire studies. The Cognitive Science Initiative, jointly hosted in CLASS and the Cullen College of Engineering, offers a certificate program in cognitive science. CLASS also participates in the Graduate Certificate in Global Energy Development and Sustainability (GEDS), a cross-disciplinary and cross-college certificate program sponsored by the UH Energy initiative.  Please contact the relevant programs directly for information about the certificates that they offer.
