Financial Aid and Scholarships: UH Law Center

Colleges  > UH Law Center  > Financial Aid and Scholarships: UH Law Center

Financial Aid

The Law Center has a financial aid advisor within the college who assists only law students and serves as an extension of the University’s Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid. Law students should correspond directly with the UHLC advisor.

All aid programs funded by federal and state government agencies, sponsoring individuals, or the Law Center may be changed or eliminated at any time and are subject to the rules and regulations of the same aforementioned entities, including the University’s Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid and the Law Center.

Eligibility for Financial Aid

  • Law students interested in applying for financial aid at UHLC should meet the following criteria:
  • Be admitted to the law program
  • Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen (See INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS)
  • Have a valid social security number
  • Be registered with Selective Services (if required)
  • Be enrolled in at least 6 hours
  • Make satisfactory academic progress
  • NOT have any student loans in default

Students should begin the financial aid process as soon as possible after the first of February even before admission to the UHLC.

Scholarships

The Office of Admissions offers a number of Dean’s Scholarships to each entering class.  These merit scholarships vary in number and amount and are renewable.  Each accepted applicant is automatically considered for a Dean’s Scholarship, and no separate application is required.  University and UH system scholarships are also available, with recipients selected through a highly competitive nomination process.  To ensure proper consideration for all scholarships, it is to your advantage to submit your application as early as possible and to take the LSAT by the early fall test date.
