HON 4301 - Medicine, Science & Technology in the Ancient World

Prerequisite: ENGL 1304  and HONS 3301.

We will explore the historical roots of Western medicine, science & technology through ancient Near Eastern, Greek, Roman, rabbinic, and medieval Islamic texts. Selections may include the Hippocratic writings, Galen, the Hebrew Bible, New Testament, and Apocrypha, the Babylonian Talmud, Maimonides, Ibn Sina (Avicenna), and Mesopotamian cuneiform medical and scientific texts.
