HIST 4367 - U.S. Latina/o Food HistoryCredit Hours: 3.0 Lecture Contact Hours: 3 Lab Contact Hours: 0 Prerequisite: ENGL 1304 . Description This course explores the history of U.S. Latinas/o identity through the foods they cultivated, prepared, and consumed from the 19th century to the present. Through interdisciplinary readings, films and an examination of the diverse Latino foods we find around our city we will follow themes including migration, colonialism, labor, gender, globalization, nutrition and health, consumerism, and memory and nostalgia.
