ENGL 7336 - Methods of Teaching English as an Additional Language

Prerequisite: Graduate standing in English or approval of chair of graduate studies in English.

This course offers a foundation in the approaches, methods, techniques, and materials for the teaching of English as an additional language from the perspective of second language acquisition and task-based language teaching pedagogy. Students will learn about the theoretical framework behind these approaches and methods, including current trends in English language teaching. This course also prepares future EAL teachers who will understand, respect, and effectively facilitate the language development and learning of the diverse adults with whom they will work.
