The Construction Management Master’s degree program provides the knowledge and skills essential for successful leadership positions in the construction industry.  The curriculum focuses on both fundamental knowledge and advanced topics.  Fundamental courses include estimating, scheduling, contracting, and project management. Advanced courses include industry best practices, risk analysis, decision making, computer applications in construction, sustainability and green construction, quality management, Six-Sigma, and leadership.  Our graduates are prepared to work in the construction industry and in academia.

The master’s program offers three options:

  • On-line program for U.S. students.
  • Overseas program (online) for students residing abroad (non-US citizens).
  • Hybrid program for international students who will reside in the U.S. during their course of study.

Admission Requirements-Master of Science in Construction Management

In addition to the College of Technology admission requirements, applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction, or Architecture. Applicants with construction management industry experience are particularly encouraged to apply. All applicants must have a minimum grade point average of 3.00 (on a 4.0 scale) on the most recent 60 semester hours of undergraduate coursework. However, applicants may be conditionally admitted with a grade point average no less than 2.75 on a 4.0 scale on the most recent 60 semester hours of undergraduate course work. Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is required for all applicants, and score may not be more than 5 years old. Applicants who completed their undergraduate degrees in a non-English speaking country must take a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). A TOFEL score of 550 is required (equivalent to 213 computerized test, or 79 on the iBT), including a minimum writing score of 58 (20 on the iBT). The TOEFL score may not be more than 2 years old. 

Degree Requirements

Depending on their interests, students may select either the thesis option or the project option.  Project and thesis guidelines, specifying other requirements, are updated regularly and are available from the department office.  Students are expected to contact program faculty on possible thesis and project topics.
