About the Certificate

The Internal Audit (IA) Certificate is open to all undergraduate majors, and its mission is to provide students with the most up-to-date theory and practice in the field of Internal Auditing. The IA courses are taught by current practitioners in the field, who bring a wealth of real world experience to the classroom. The Accountancy & Taxation Department at the C. T. Bauer College of Business has one of only 7 internal audit programs in the world and one of only 4 in the country to be recognized as a Center of Excellence by the Institute of Internal Auditors

Networking

Students involved in the IA-Certificate are provided increased opportunities to interact and earn internships with firms that employ Internal Auditors. Through corporate events held on campus, Colloquium courses, and mixers, students are able to network with the top employers in the Accounting industry. The Internal Auditing Student Association gives students who are interested in careers in Internal Auditing the opportunity to network with other students with the same goals to build networks and to further their mutual interest in the field of internal auditing.

The IA courses are not approved to fulfill the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy’s (TSBPA) educational requirement of 30 hours of advanced accounting. However, these courses are approved to fulfill the 150 hours of college credit. For information about the CPA eligibility, visit the TSBPA.
