The Department of Cutural and Comparative Studies offers a Master of Arts in Anthropology program. A thesis is required for both students who plan to pursue further academic study and those who plan to enter careers as professional applied anthropologists.

Admission Requirements

In addition to meeting the college graduate admission requirements , applicants must meet the following minimum requirements for unconditional admission to the Master of Arts in Anthropology program:

Requirements include a baccalaureate degree in anthropology or an undergraduate degree that includes 24 semester hours in anthropology or other social science; a 3.00 grade point average (A=4.00) in the most recent 60 semester hours of undergraduate and/or graduate courses; Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores; and three letters of recommendation. (Verbal, quantitative, and analytical writing GRE scores are examined separately and evaluated as one information source in the total application.)

In addition to meeting the college master’s degree requirements, applicants must complete the following minimum requirements for the Master of Arts in Anthropology program:

Students must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or above and satisfactorily complete a comprehensive examination.

Special Academic Regulations
