English Applied Linguistics Minor

An English minor in Applied Linguistics consists of 18 semester hours of English courses at the 3000- and 4000-level. Please see required courses below. Before enrolling in advanced courses in English, students must complete the six hour university Core requirement in Communication (ENGL 1301  and ENGL 1302  or equivalents) and ENGL 1310  or equivalent. At least nine of the advanced semester hours must be completed in residence. A 2.00 minimum grade point average is required in all courses attempted at the university in the minor field excluding the required freshman courses. Courses to be applied to the minor must be approved by the department.

Two approved 3000- or 4000-level electives related to the study of language from English, Rhetoric, Composition, and Pedagogy (RCP), Modern and Classical Languages (MCL), Spanish, and/or Communication Sciences & Disorders (classes may be taken in any language as available).

In order to receive concentration credit for ENGL 4391  and/or ENGL 3396  the course(s) content must focus on linguistics.
