African American Studies, Minor

A minor in African American Studies requires a minimum of 18 semester hours. AAS 2320 - Intro To African American Stdy  and AAS 4370 - Sem. African American Studies  are REQUIRED courses for the minor along with Six hours of approved electives from the Africana Studies Focus; and Six hours of approved electives from the Historical Focus, Social-Psychological Focus, Political-Economic Focus or Aesthetic Focus. Twelve of the 18 hours must be in residence; twelve of the 18 hours must be in African American Studies (AAS) courses. Twelve hours must be advanced (3000 or 4000 level) and six of the twelve advanced hours must be in residence.  A minimum 2.00 grade point average for all courses applied to the minor is required.

Students should select 6 hours of electives from the Historical Focus, Social-Psychological Focus, Political-Economic Focus or Aesthetic Focus.
