About the Certificate

The Internal Audit (IA) Certificate is open to all undergraduate majors and seeks to provide students with the most modern theory and practice regarding the field of Internal Auditing. The IA courses are taught by current practitioners in the field, who incorporate real world experience into the curriculum. The Accountancy & Taxation Department at the C. T. Bauer College of Business has one of only 11 internal audit programs in the world and one of only 6 in the country to be recognized as a Center of Excellence by the Institute of Internal Auditors.

Networking

Students involved in the IA Certificate are provided with an abundance of opportunities to network and earn internships with internal audit firms. Through corporate events held on campus, colloquium courses, and mixers, students are able to network with the top employers in the accounting industry. The  Internal Auditing Student Association gives students who are interested in pursuing internal auditing careers the opportunity to interact with other students that have similar goals of building networks and to further their mutual interest in the field of internal auditing.

The IA courses are not approved to fulfill the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy’s (TSBPA) educational requirement of 30 hours of advanced accounting. However, these courses are approved to fulfill the 150 hours of college credit. For information about the CPA eligibility, visit the TSBPA.
