Aerospace Engineering, M.S.


Aerospace Engineering Program

The Aerospace Engineering Program at UH provides graduate education in Aerospace Engineering to those interested to acquire advanced knowledge, conduct research and pursue careers in the field. The program offers the opportunity for full-time or part-time graduate study to those employed or seeking employment in aerospace engineering to help them advance in the technical track of the profession. This is an interdisciplinary program taught by faculty in the Mechanical Engineering Department with assistance from other colleges and departments at UH.

Master of Science - Thesis Option


General Information

A minimum of 30 semester hours, including a thesis, are required for the degree of Master of Science.  Required thesis semester credit hours vary with each department.  All applicants should contact their departmental or interdisciplinary program graduate advisor for information on variations in the semester hour requirements for the Master of Science degree.  All students selecting the thesis option must satisfactorily defend the thesis in the presence of the thesis committee prior to its acceptance.

Master of Science - Non-Thesis Option


General Information

A non-thesis option in the Master of Science degree is available in Chemical, Civil,  Mechanical  and Subsea Engineering Civil Engineering requires 36 semester hours while Mechanical and Chemical Engineering require 33 and 30 semester hours, respectively.  The non-thesis Master of Science option is also available in several interdisciplinary programs:  Aerospace Engineering (30 hours), Computer and Systems Engineering (36 hours), Environmental, Geosensing and Subsea Engineering (30 hours).  Departmental or program graduate advisors should be consulted regarding these and other requirements for the degree.
