Mission / Objectives
The College of Education is committed to the preparation of teachers, counselors, school and higher education administrators, and professionals for a wide variety of educational settings, including social agencies, business, and government. Because of the university’s urban setting, students will have opportunities to work with learners in a wide variety of educational settings.
Accreditation
The College of Education is accredited by the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) and by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation.
College of Education’s Departmental Organization
Each of the three departments of the college focuses on a specific aspect of professional education. Two departments offer undergraduate degrees. The major entitled Teaching and Learning is housed within the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. Two majors, Health and Human Development and Family Studies, are housed in the Department of Psychological, Health, and Learning Sciences.
