Admission Requirements

Students who choose to major in economics must also meet the university core requirements and the college core requirements for a Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Bachelor of Science degree.

33 hours (at least 24 advanced) to include:

ECON 2304 - Microeconomic Principles Credit Hours: 3.0
ECON 2305 - Macroeconomic Principles Credit Hours: 3.0
ECON 2370 - Introduction to Economic Data Analysis Credit Hours: 3.0
ECON 3332 - Intermed Microeconomics Credit Hours: 3.0
ECON 3334 - Intermed Macroeconomics Credit Hours: 3.0
ECON 3370 - Introduction To Econometrics Credit Hours: 3.0
ECON electives (advanced) Credit Hours: 15.0

Additional Information

In addition, Bachelor of Science candidates must take either:

MATH 1314 - Calculus for Business and the Life Sciences Credit Hours: 3.0
or
MATH 1431 - Calculus I Credit Hours: 4.0
Students considering graduate study in economics are strongly urged to take MATH 1431 rather than MATH 1314, and to take additional electives in mathematics.
