Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management  > Hotel and Restaurant Management and Hospitality Management, B.S./M.S.

Program Description

For students who want to pursue a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Hotel and Restaurant Management and earn a Master of Science (M.S.) in Hospitality Management, the dual B.S./M.S. program offers an accelerated degree program to earn both in five years. The dual B.S./M.S. provides a clear and concise path toward accelerated academic goals and enables students to begin concentrated work on a professional focus in the hospitality industry during the final year of their B.S. degree plan. Students who are accepted into this program can complete 12 hours toward their M.S. degree as an undergraduate student, and the remaining credits for the M.S. can be completed in one additional calendar year as a graduate student.

Application Process

Applicants gain conditional admission to this joint program during their final undergraduate year. Unconditional admission to the M.S. program requires successful completion of the B.S. in Hotel and Restaurant Management a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better, and completion of the graduate program application process, which includes the following:

  • Completion of GRE or GMAT test (institution code for GRE is 6870 and GMAT is XT1-1C-69)
  • Online graduate admission application completion at https://www.applyweb.com/uhouston/
  • Completion of a Skype interview if invited to do so after review of application

Course replacement/acceptance

Admitted students can earn 12 credit hours of Master-level courses in their final year of the B.S. program. These 12 credit hours will be applied to both the B.S. and the M.S. degree.
