Engineering - Technology Division  > Department of Information Science Technology  > Accelerated B.S./M.S. Degree Program in Computer Information Systems/Cybersecurity

Accelerated pathway dual degree programs provide academically outstanding students an accelerated pathway to complete an undergraduate and a master’s degree in a reduced period of time. Accelerated pathway programs provide undergraduate students permission to take a specified number of master’s level courses as electives toward completion of their bachelor’s degree. The students then apply to the graduate degree program, and if accepted, the previously completed graduate coursework during the senior year is counted as transfer credit toward the completion of the master’s degree.

Students wishing to apply for the B.S./M.S. Computer Information Systems/ Cybersecurity accelerated pathway program must meet the following requirements:

  1. Currently enrolled in Computer Information System, BS
  2. Junior standing and completion of 30 semester hours of Technology Division coursework.
  3. Minimum 3.0 GPA overall coursework.
  4. Minimum 3.25 GPA overall CIS coursework.
  5. Approval from the undergraduate Program Coordinator for Computer Information Systems.
  6. Approval from the graduate Program Coordinator for Cybersecurity.

Students may choose up to 6 hours to apply to both the undergraduate and graduate degrees.

The CIS program shall determine what graduate courses can be substituted to satisfy the student’s undergraduate degree requirements. This determination will be made in accordance with the student’s interest, the recommended graduate courses for the accelerated program, and the student’s preparation for the course material. It is anticipated that there will be consultation with both the graduate degree department and the undergraduate degree department.

For more information on the Masters degree requirements, please refer to the Graduate Academic Catalog.
