Engineering - Technology Division > Department of Engineering Technology > Accelerated B.S./M.S. Degree Program in Mechanical Engineering Technology/Engineering Technology - Specialization in Mechanical
Accelerated pathway dual degree programs provide academically outstanding students an accelerated pathway to complete an undergraduate and a master’s degree in a reduced period of time. Accelerated pathway programs provide undergraduate students permission to take a specified number of master’s level courses as electives toward completion of their bachelor’s degree. The students then apply to the graduate degree program, and if accepted, the previously completed graduate coursework during the senior year is counted as transfer credit toward the completion of the master’s degree.
Students wishing to apply for the B.S. Mechanical Engineering Technology/M.S. Engineering Technology specialization in Mechanical accelerated pathway program must meet the following requirements:
- Currently enrolled in Mechanical Engineering Technology, B.S.
- Junior standing and completion of 30 semester hours of Technology Division coursework
- Minimum 3.0 GPA over all course work
- Minimum 3.25 GPA over all Technology Division course work
- Approval from the undergraduate Program Coordinator for Mechanical Engineering Technology
- Approval from the graduate Program Coordinator for Engineering Technology specialization in Mechanical
Students may choose up to 6 hours to apply to both the undergraduate and graduate degrees from the approved list
- MECT 6323 - Applied Heat Transfer
- MECT 6345 - Material Selection for Energy Sources
- MECT 6322 - Computer Aided Engineering I
Students enrolled in the accelerated program must complete the graduate application process before formal admission to graduate school. The admission committee reviews the entire application when making an admission decision.
