The Earth and Environmental Data Science Certificate offered by the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences is available to both graduate students and non-degree-seeking professionals. The certificate program educates next-generation geoscientists who can use data science tools to solve scientific and societal problems. The creation of this new program responds to the evolving landscape of education and job market needs.

Admission Requirements
This certificate program can be taken by students who are already admitted into a Master’s or PhD program in the department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, or by students who intend to solely
obtain the certificate. In this latter case, the admission requirements are as follows:
- Bachelor’s degree in earth science or a related discipline of physical science or engineering with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in the last 60 hours of coursework. Official transcripts are required.
- The GRE is not required for admission.
- No previous coding experience is required.
