The minor in Hispanic Journalism and Media is designed for students who anticipate careers in journalism or communication positions where their working language is Spanish and/or where they report on Hispanic communities in the U.S. or abroad. The minor is also designed for students who wish to continue the study of the Spanish language and culture for specific journalistic and communicative purposes.
Students must complete 18 hours of advanced courses, 9 of which must be in residence. Minimum GPA required to successfully complete the minor is 2.0.
The 18-hour minor consists of students taking courses in three separate areas: language, culture, and communication.

Language Block: Take 2 courses (6 hours)
For Non-Heritage Learners:
Students must complete SPAN 3301, 3302, 3339 or 4341.
For Heritage Learners:
Students must complete SPAN 3307, 3308, 3339 or 4341.
Culture Block: Take 2 courses (6 hours)
