Human Resource Leadership, M.S.

The Master of Science in Human Resource Leadership is designed to provide students with breadth and depth of theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in the field of human resource management and leadership. With its emphasis on the integration of strategic leadership thought and HRM skills, it is uniquely capable of providing graduate students the background necessary to obtain either their initial SHRM certification or, the senior certification in the case of a student who already possess relevant job experience in the HRM discipline.

Admissions Requirements


  1. Admission eligibility for the MS-HRL program requires a four-year undergraduate degree (or foreign equivalent) from an accredited institution. The undergraduate degree may be in any discipline.
  2. Online Application

  3. Transcript
    • Applicants must have earned a bachelor’s degree from an institution accredited by one of the six regional accrediting associations. Scanned copies of official transcripts may be uploaded as PDF files to your online application. If admitted, however, you will not be able to enroll without the official transcript(s) showing your undergraduate degree conferral on file.

  4. Résumé

  5. Goal Statement
    • In one to two pages, discuss what motivates you, how your personal and professional experience has shaped you, and how you will maximize the specialized Master’s degree to reach your future goals.
  6. Letter of Recommendation
    • Two letters of recommendation are required. These recommendations are gathered electronically through the online application system. You will be required to enter an email address for your recommender which will allow an online form to automatically be sent to your recommender.

Degree Requirements


The Master of Science in Human Resource Leadership is a 36-hour program that can be completed online, face-to-face, or by using a combination of the two. Completion time can be as little as 12 months for students who attend classes year around on a full-time basis. Part time study is also feasible with a completion time of 24 months. All 36 hours of coursework are comprised of required core skills courses. Students with 3 or more years of relevant work experience or prior graduate coursework in HRM can apply for a transfer of graduate credit to waive a maximum of 6 hours of these required hours without substitution. Any student who does not have a BBA from an accredited institution will have to take an additional 3 hours of pre- requisites to in order to begin the program - MANA 6310 Fundamentals of Business (3 SCH).

Academic Policies


Online Offering

All required coursework for completion of the degree will be offered in an online format.  Many courses will also be offered in the face to face format, but not all.

Continuous Enrollment

Unless students petition for a leave of absence, they must maintain continuous enrollment during the program. Students who are out of the program for more than one calendar year will be under the jurisdiction of the catalog in effect at the time of reentry. Students who fail to maintain continuous enrollment for more than two calendar years must reapply for admission to the program and must meet admission requirements in effect at that time.
