About the College

The University of Houston Andy and Barbara Gessner College of Nursing offers upper level and graduate nursing education primarily to Fort Bend County, Harris, and surrounding counties in Texas. Undergraduate tracks include the RN to BSN for registered nurses who wish to pursue a baccalaureate degree in nursing, the Second Degree BSN for individuals who have completed a university degree and wish to become a registered nurse, and the Traditional BSN track is designed for the University of Houston Andy and Barbara Gessner College of Nursing (CON) Pre-Nursing student who wants to pursue a Nursing major beginning the junior year.

The Master of Science in Nursing offers tracks in nursing education, nursing administration, and family nurse practitioner.
        The post masters Doctor of Nursing Practice in Nursing offers tracks in nursing administration and family nurse practitioner.
Accreditation

The Andy and Barbara Gessner College of Nursing has full approval from the Texas Board of Nursing. The Traditional BSN, RN-BSN program, Second Degree BSN program, and MSN program in Nurse Administration, Nurse Education, and Family Nurse Practitioner, and post master’s Doctor of Nursing Practice have approval from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

The baccalaureate degree program in nursing and master’s degree program in nursing are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, 655 K Street, NW, Suite 750 Washington, DC 20001, Telephone 202-887-6791.
